The choir was founded in September 2012 and has continued to grow from strength to strength.
The Choir meets weekly with the aim of bringing gay & bisexual men together to sing, perform, socialise and raise money for local charities. We now have an active membership of over 30 men of all ages and abilities and welcome both Gay, Bisexual & Transgender males of all ages (minimum age 18)! We’re always looking for new members of all abilities who love to sing and there is no audition to join us.
2017 was our busiest year with events that saw us travel the country, Manchester, Southampton and the Isle of Wight. We are proud to show our support to various Pride events throughout the year.
In March 2018 the Choir changed their name from Southampton Gay Men’s Chorus to Solent Gay Men’s Chorus in a commitment to performing across the south coast and beyond. We were also pleased to register as a charity to enable the choir to apply for additional funding to support its goals and to to enable us to support others by singing for them and with them.
We rehearse every Monday evening from 7.30 to 10pm, at Christ Church, Freemantle, Waterloo Road, Southampton, SO15 3BT
